Useful Tips: Quick Editing of Elements in the Gantt Chart
When working with a standard plan or a project plan, elements can be edited not only through the element form but also directly in the table and on the Gantt chart. This allows you to configure the project structure, timelines, and stage dependencies more quickly.
Selecting, Copying, and Pasting Multiple Stages
In the standard plan you can select any number of rows and columns with stages and work with them as a single block.
To select multiple stages:
- hold the left mouse button and select the required range of rows and columns in the plan table;
- the selected elements will be highlighted.
The following actions can be performed with the selected stages:
- Copy (Ctrl + C)
- Paste (Ctrl + V)
- Delete
The copied set of stages can be inserted in another place in the plan. The structure and hierarchy will be preserved.
Stage Context Menu
To work with an individual stage, use the row context menu.
To open the context menu:
- right-click the stage number in the plan table.
The following commands are available in the menu:
- Add row above
- Add row below
- Delete
- Copy
- Paste
The commands apply to the selected stage or to the position where the insertion is performed.
Moving Stages in the List
Stages can be moved up and down in the plan structure without using the control panel buttons.
To do this:
- grab the stage by the area with the stage number;
- drag it up or down to the desired position in the list.
This method allows you to quickly change the order of stages in the plan.
Changing Stage Dates and Duration
On the Gantt chart, stage dates can be adjusted using the mouse:
- dragging the entire stage bar moves the stage completely, changing both the start and end dates;
- dragging the left edge of the bar changes the start date;
- dragging the right edge of the bar changes the end date.
The stage duration and related dates are recalculated automatically.
Creating Dependencies Between Stages
Stages in the standard plan can be linked directly on the Gantt chart.
To create a dependency:
- move the cursor to the right edge of the stage bar;
- drag the connection arrow that appears to another stage bar;
- release the mouse button.
This creates a dependency indicating that the start of the second stage depends on the completion of the first one.
Such dependencies are automatically considered when calculating the project schedule.
Changing Stage Colors
For better visual clarity, stages can be assigned different colors.
To change the color:
- select one or several stages;
- click the Color button on the control panel;
- the selected color will be applied to the stage bars in the Gantt chart.
Colors are used only for visual highlighting and do not affect the project logic.
Limitations of Quick Editing
When working directly in the table and on the Gantt chart, you can:
- change the order of stages;
- modify dates and duration;
- copy and paste stages;
- create dependencies.
Configuring executors, descriptions, and related actions can only be done through the plan element edit form.
